What is a Content Management System?Content Management is a term for a program that allows you to easily manage the content of your website. Literally anyone, even those with no technical experience can use content management to administer their website. What Content Management System do you use & why?We use a system called Joomla, the most popular and multi-functioned Open-Source content management system available. Joomla is used and proven on tens of thousands of sites including the United Nations and Porsche. By being Open-Source Joomla is free from licensing fees and therefore does not cost you a penny. This allows us to keep our costs down and concentrate on designing your site as opposed to developing the software. As there are literally hundreds if not thousands of people developing for Joomla you also reap the benefit of a system that is constantly being updated and improved. It also means that you are not tied to a proprietary system and should you at any time decide to change your hosting (or should heaven forbid, everyone at IntoArt suddenly drop dead) you would have absolutely no problem in finding another host or developer. Lastly, there are thousands of add-ons for Joomla and most are free! Should you want a forum, live video or Google Maps implemented in your site there is bound to be a plug-in available. We have not come across a more developed for content management system yet. Who needs a Content Management System?CMS can be used from simple, personal homepages to complex corporate web applications. But anyone who wishes to stay current with their website and rank higher in the search engines profits from Content Management as it enables you to update your site content whenever you wish. You are not dependent on a web designer – you manage your site yourself! How does it work?Making changes to the content is a simple process, following the same principles as using Word. You can change text, upload images and documents, even video, podcasts or audio files. CMS Systems are totally scalable and grow with your business, there is no limit to the amount of pages or files your website can hold(except of your website hosting package). Is it future proof? As we said before, Joomla is constantly being developed for by thousands of programmers, you couldn’t find a more future proofed system if you tried! You can start with the core system and easily expand prom there. Adding at a later date an e-commerce shop, a photo gallery, a document archive or whatever tickles your fancy is a synch – there are thousands of plug-ins and different modules available to choose from that add extensive functionality to your website. What does it cost? Our Core CMS System costs £1200. For an extensive list of add on features and costs please see our Pricing page here. Why “IntoArt”?“IntoArt” is a catchy name that symbolises the intersection of the two founders Johnny Pope and Sandra Boehner. Having both come from artistic backgrounds they originally focused their talents on developing artist’s websites. Due to the high demand for their services and the extreme functionality of the CMS system they decided to make their services available to all businesses.Information we need from you to start your projectWe have streamlined the process for you and created a handy PDF form for you to fill in over a cuppa coffee. Once done you can email it straight back to us (yes, no need to print this one, it's all electronic) and we'll start putting your proposal together. Go on, set the wheels in motion, grab a drink and get brainstorming! |
